The university is an old Red Brick university - that is spread throughout the city - its rather different to the campus uni's that we know. Leaving Liam & Eleanor to the days details - I went off walking & geocaching. The first cache was an Earth Cache here in the museum - it was an ancient old rock - but was not photographically beautiful - so I present you a dinosaur instead!
My walk took me along a few of the different canals dotted around the city - this is the bridge at Castlefield Basin.

There were many sculptures dotted throughout the city - but this one of Alan Turing moved me very much. According to the information board - he was the founder of the computer in the 40's & 50's. But after a burglary in his home in 1952 he had to admit that he was gay - which was a criminal offence then. He was 'cured' by having Oestrogen injections forced into him!!He was found dead 2 years later with a half eaten apple beside his dead body. Was it suicide or was there a conspiratory to murder him as he was thought to be a security risk. I could not believe that this was how we treated people just a few years ago.
I love this statue of Archimedes having his eureka moment in the bath!
We would have loved to have had time to have gone on the wheel - but the 2 days had just whizzed by - perhaps next time?
